– Odfjell Drilling’s semisubmersible Deepsea Yantai has started drilling four production wells on the Neptune Energy-operated Fenja field in the Norwegian Sea.

Fenja is under development via two subsea templates tied back to the Equinor-operated Njord A platform by means of a production pipeline, water and gas injection pipelines, and an umbilical.

Two of the wells will be oil producers, one a water injector and the other a gas injector, with the latter converted to a gas producer toward the end of field life.

Neptune Energy’s director of Projects & Engineering in Norway, Erik Oppedal, said drilling represented the final phase of the project, with numerous other prospects nearby.

The Deepsea Yantai will drill into the reservoir sections, install the lower completions and perform well clean-up activities, with the program set to continue for around 160 days.

Neptune expects to start production from Fenja during the first half of 2023, with a peak rate of around 28,000 boe/d.
